Get Inspired

A major part of this class is devoted to completing service-learning projects. These projects will ultimately account for 20% of the students' total grade (final exam). As such a large part of the grade, it is important that students choose their projects carefully.  Besides meeting the obvious service-learning objectives, projects should also address the "Eight Cs": content, cultural awareness, critical thinking, communication, collaboration, creativity, credibility and creation. This page was created to help students during the initial brainstorming stage of the project.  We hope that by looking at what students have done in the past, you will be inspired to do something awesome with this opportunity.

Project Ideas:

Project Wisdom Global Partners - Project Wisdom can connect you to one of our global partners. You can then identify a need and create a project to raise awareness or donations for the global partner.

Community Partnership - Same as above, but students connect with a local charity and try to help out in some way. Just remember, their must be a learning aspect to your project. In other words, other people must learn something. Simply volunteering is not enough.

School Service Day - It might be the Project Wisdom Pep Rally; it might be Earth Day. Whatever semester you are taking the class, there is a service day at the school for you to get involved in.

Start a Campaign - Write an article for HHS Newspaper, create a PSA for advisory, become YouTube famous, use the Project Wisdom bulletin - create something to educate the masses about an important global issue.

Help GLS - Create a mini-unit for next semester's GLS class; help improve and refine the Global Learning Center; lead the class project.

Project Wisdom - There is always something you can do to help out Heritage High's international service-learning program. Help plan an event; help manage its web site or YouTube channel; help volunteer.

Find Inspiration - Look over this page to see what past GLS students have done; click links below to see hundreds of other service-learning project ideas; talk to past students.

Talk to the Teacher - If all else fails, set up a meeting with your teacher.
